The Order of Celtic Benedictines

The Order of Celtic Benedictines is an Orthodox religious order aligned with the Anglican Church of Kenya through it's membership in the Province of the Holy Spirit.
Our Anglican distinctives are that we acknowledge the ordination of women, we accept married persons at all levels of membership, our services are conducted entirely in English, and we allow our members to live either in community or to remain in their own homes. Our Orthodox distinctives are that our theology, organizational structure and religious services are in the Eastern Orthodox tradition.
Our charism seeks to adapt traditional Orthodox Christian values to the demands of modern Western life, with reverence for the past and hope for the future. Please feel free to peruse our pages here and to visit our blog at

The Celtic cross gives evidence of the roots of our spirituality. The medal in the center speaks to prayer and our Benedictine heritage.

Our motto, 'Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi,' means, 'The words of prayer are the words of belief.'

It reminds us that union with God in prayer is both the focus of our lives and our ultimate end.
